Zirconia veneers are ultra-thin ceramic shells made from zirconium dioxide — the same high-strength material used in full zirconia crowns. They are fabricated in a dental laboratory from digital impressions and bonded to the front surface of prepared teeth. Zirconia veneers are valued for their exceptional durability, resistance to staining, and lifelike translucency that closely mimics natural enamel.
Your dentist takes intraoral photographs and digital scans, and creates a Digital Smile Design (DSD) preview so you can visualise your result before any preparation begins.
A thin layer of enamel (0.3–0.5 mm) is removed from the front surface of each tooth to make room for the veneer. Local anesthesia ensures comfort throughout.
High-accuracy digital impressions are sent to the dental laboratory. Temporary veneers are placed to protect your prepared teeth and let you preview your new smile.
The dental lab mills your veneers from a solid block of zirconia using CAD/CAM technology, then applies and fires ceramic layers for realistic colour and translucency.
The finished veneers are placed without adhesive for a trial fit. Shade, shape, and occlusion are verified and minor adjustments are made if needed.
Each veneer is bonded permanently to the tooth using a high-strength resin cement and cured with light, locking it in place for lasting durability.

Healing
Photography, digital scanning, shade selection, and treatment plan confirmation. DSD preview is reviewed with the patient.
Enamel reduction under local anesthesia, digital impressions taken, and temporary veneers placed. Impressions sent to the laboratory.
The dental laboratory mills and characterises the zirconia veneers. Patients enjoy leisure time in the city.
Veneers are tried in, minor adjustments made, and permanently cemented. Final photographs are taken. Patient is cleared to fly home.
Zirconia is one of the strongest dental ceramics available, resisting fracture and chipping far better than traditional porcelain or composite resin.
The non-porous zirconia surface does not absorb pigments from coffee, tea, red wine, or tobacco — your smile stays bright for years.
Modern multilayer zirconia closely mimics the depth and light transmission of natural enamel, producing results that are virtually indistinguishable from real teeth.
Ultra-thin zirconia veneers require only 0.3–0.5 mm of enamel removal — significantly less than traditional porcelain veneer preparation.
Zirconia is biocompatible and hypoallergenic, making it suitable for patients with metal sensitivities or ceramic allergies.
Even the minimal preparation required for zirconia veneers permanently alters the tooth surface. The teeth will always require some form of restoration going forward.
Teeth may be sensitive to hot and cold during the 5–10 days while temporary veneers are in place and the permanent ones are being fabricated.
Unlike composite, zirconia veneers require a laboratory fabrication period of 3–7 days, meaning at least two clinic appointments and a minimum stay of 5–7 days.
If a zirconia veneer fractures, it typically cannot be repaired chairside and must be fully replaced — though this is uncommon given zirconia's strength.
Avoid biting into very hard foods for the first 24 hours while the resin cement achieves full strength. Sensitivity is normal and subsides within a few days.
Brush twice daily with a soft-bristled brush and non-abrasive toothpaste. Floss carefully around the veneer margins each day.
If you grind your teeth at night, wear a custom night guard to protect both the veneers and the underlying tooth structure.
Do not use veneered teeth to bite nails, open packaging, or chew very hard objects such as ice or hard candies.
Schedule a professional cleaning and veneer check every 6–12 months. Veneers do not require special treatment beyond standard dental hygiene.
Plan a stay of 5–7 days to accommodate both the preparation appointment and the bonding appointment after the laboratory fabricates your veneers. The gap between appointments is typically 3–5 days, which can be spent exploring the city.
